University of Cape Town H 3-D Conference

Description:

The Drug Discovery And Development Centre (H 3-D) held a three day conference at the Vineyard Hotel to discuss the challenges and opportunities in Africa.

Audio:

We used a four speaker P.A to achieve even sound distribution in the wide conference room. Presenters used a cord microphone at the podium and a lapel microphone was available for those presenters who preferred to move around. Two hand held microphones were used for questions from the audience and the panel responded to these questions using two table top microphones.

Visuals:

We provided a laptop and a MacBook Pro to cater for PowerPoint and Keynote presentations and we also provided a laptop connection point at the lectern. A seamless switcher was used to switch between the various computer inputs. Presenters brought their talks on flash drives and we loaded and managed these files at the back of the conference room.

The presentations were displayed on two projection screens and on two confidence monitors on stage. One of the confidence monitors was a touch screen which allowed the speakers to move the mouse cursor with their finger, like a laser pointer on multiple screens simultaneously. A cordless clicker was used to advance slides.

Result:

The planning and preparation prior to the event ensured success. The conference ran smoothly without any technical problems.
